Victim Assistance Court Program

Services We Offer

Our Victim Assistance Court Program assists victims of domestic violence who seek to file or renew 50B Domestic Violence Protective Orders (DVPOs) or 50C No-Contact Orders because they've been recently assaulted, threatened, and/or stalked. Victim Assistance Court Program advocates also provide a number of additional services, including:

• Ability to assist survivors in their preferred/primary language
• Crisis intervention
• Safety planning
• Photo documentation of injuries
• Court accompaniment (civil and criminal)
• Domestic violence support groups for adults and children (email Addie Haywood and Stephanie Ledbetter for details) 

DVPOs are essential components of many victims' safety plans and can greatly impact a victim's ability to live independently from an abuser. DVPOs can determine temporary child custody arrangements as well as a range of financial outcomes, such as right to live in a shared home and retain possession of a vehicle. Without effective advocacy and legal representation, the lack of a court order can leave a victim destitute. 

Walk-ins are welcome, but we ask that clients arrive by 3 p.m. to ensure same-day completion/filing of paperwork with the court.
