Our Clyde & Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter serves Mecklenburg County residents in imminent dangerready to escape from a domestic violence situation. The shelter has 19 apartment-style suites for families and 10 units for single adults.
The shelter is located on a 5-acre site in Charlotte convenient to public transportation and other support services. The 40,000-square foot facility has state-of-the-art security and multi-purpose space for supportive services, including:
Counseling
Substance use services
Support groups for adults and children
Children's program
Individual advocacy
Life skills and career planning services
Cafeteria and age-appropriate gathering spaces for children, teens, and adults
Basic needs (three daily meals, clothing referrals, personal care items, and toiletries)
We are able to offer clients in imminent dangerof physical violence secure and safe housing based on each family's individual needs and service plan. Want to support our shelter residents? NOTE: As part of our security protocol, all visitors are required to call and schedule an appointment in advance. Visitors will be credentialed at several security check points before entering the facility. No one will be granted entry without prior approval.
